A man was killed with a “single stab wound to the heart” yesterday (Monday March 20). The body of Stefan Stelian Moraru, 44, was found by the emergency services after they were called to Barnet at 6am

The Romanian national, believed to be the victim of the assault, was pronounced dead at the scene on Chandos Avenue.

Their relatives have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers. An autopsy carried out on Tuesday, March 21, established a single stab wound to the heart as the cause of death.

At this early stage, there have been no arrests. Detective Chief Inspector Neil John said: “I would like to appeal to the witnesses who were in the area of ​​Chandos Avenue and Whetstone High Street, N20 on Sunday March 19 at approximately 10.30pm.”

“Our investigations suggest that there was a disturbance or altercation on Chandos Avenue at or around that time and we are looking for witnesses to this. I am particularly interested in anyone who may have had a dashcam when traveling on any of these roads at the time. “. “
