Residents struggling to keep their homes warm may be eligible for a grant.

rossendale-council>Rossendale City Council is encouraging residents to verify their eligibility for a grant from the Affordable Warmth Fund. The fund managed by Homewise, a registered charity that provides unbiased help and advice on all aspects of home improvement, repair and maintenance, can offer financing for items ranging from furnace replacement to draft proofing measures. .

Councilor Steve Hughes, Senior Member for Housing and Client Services at Rossendale Council, said: “This fund has quite a broad criteria and there may be people who assume they are not eligible, especially if they have a full time job, but that is not always so. the case. “If your household meets one of the listed vulnerabilities and you have a low income, which in this case is higher than the previous grants, we strongly encourage people to reach out and find out if they are eligible.”

Funds are available for numerous services, including gas fire services and repairs, and the repairs and addition of new radiators and radiator reflectors. Funds also include maintenance, repair and replacement of boilers and heating systems and associated work, including checks and replacement of unsafe heating appliances.

Waterproofing measures: Windows, doors, dormer hatches, electrical fittings on walls and ceilings, suspended floors, pipes leading to the outside, ceiling-to-wall joints, as well as appropriate ventilation measures, standard insulation of hollow walls and dormers, and other measures to keep people warm.

Cllr Hughes added: “The cost of living crisis has had a huge impact on the ability to heat homes effectively. Some of the steps people can take are fairly simple and relatively low cost, but they can make a big difference to heating bills. However, many simply cannot afford to make those changes or improvements.
