Thousands of people were without power Friday and some schools will close early as strong winds downed trees, including trees that are covered in ice after storms. See the full list of school closures here.
Eversource reported more than 9,000 power outages at any given time. The number was around 4200 at 3:45 pm
A wind advisory has been issued for Northern Connecticut and wind gusts will be up to 40 miles per hour.

Most outages occur in Tolland, Mansfield, New Hartford, Glastonbury, Stamford, and Coventry.
Power outages are causing problems in Coventry schools. The middle and high school complex is dismissing students at 11 am due to power issues.
The weather is affecting Bolton schools.
Due to high winds and ice on cables and trees, Bolton High School will close at noon and Bolton Center School will close at 1:10 pm
Schools in Columbia are closing early because trees and power lines are down, making some roads impassable. Horace Porter School will close at 12:45 p.m. Columbia High School students will be picked up at their high schools at 11:30 a.m.
Tolland Alert reported that the Tolland Fire Department is responding to several calls reporting trees and wires downing due to high winds and ice on the trees.
