Information
Following powerful and hard-hitting talks last year, in which the likes of Jack Monroe and Jay Rayner discussed the state of food and food poverty with John Barnes MBE and Lawrence Hoo delved into the black experience, FORWARDS is pleased to announce the return of THE INFORMATION in 2023. More details to be announced later this year.
Social Initiatives
Social initiatives are at the heart of the FORWARDS festival, which is committed to creating positive change. A new series of initiatives for 2023 will be announced later this year.
The series of initiatives will include the return of the ‘Capture FORWARDS’ initiative presented by FORWARDS and associated partner BIG TEAM CIC.
‘Capture FORWARDS’ offers young photographers first-hand experience in live event photography, giving them invaluable access in the early stages of their careers. After welcoming 56 entries in 2022, four lucky photographers were selected to shoot the inaugural festival last September. Celebrating their success, photographers Naomi Williams, Megan Tsz Ip, Jade Ayino and Ismael Abdi saw their work from last year’s festival exhibited at the Trinity Center in Bristol in February and have since become full-time professional photographers.

Tom Paine, Co-Founder of Team Love, said: “We are proud to bring FORWARDS back this year to the greatest city in the world, and our hometown of Bristol. Building on our work since our inaugural year, we are incredibly excited to be able to bring together a musical offering with such an incredible array of talent. Our goal continues to be to make FORWARDS a space that invites debate and challenges the status quo. Offering our audience a place to come together, dance and make memories, as we try to inspire debate, action and enact positive change through the time-sensitive conversations on ‘The Information’.”
Jim King, CEO, European Festivals, AEG Presents said: “We are excited to see FORWARDS return after their inaugural success in 2022.
Offering two days of music and culture, we’re delighted to bring headliners Aphex Twin and Erykah Badu to Bristol. A historic city with an important cultural and musical heritage of which we are pleased to be a part”.
