Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is not sure if Marcus Rashford will be fit to start the League Cup final against Newcastle.
Rashford suffered an ankle injury in the second half of United’s 2-1 Europa League play-off win over Barcelona on Thursday night and was substituted in the 88th minute.

The 25-year-old has scored 16 goals in his last 18 matches and is United’s top scorer this season with 24 goals and will be assessed in the next 48 hours before Sunday’s final. Anthony Martial, who has not started since January 14 and last completed 90 minutes in January 2021, remains sidelined with a hip injury.
“I don’t know,” Ten Hag said when asked if Rashford would recover. “The players are now coming in, we have to do medical investigations, of course, we did that yesterday. So immediately after a game, most of the time you can’t tell, you have to wait for a 100 percent diagnosis.” do the doctor, the work, we have to wait”.

United conjured up an inspired comeback to beat Barcelona in two legs in Europe with Shaw and his teammates still celebrating their exploits from Thursday night. Not that they needed it, but that result has given the team an extra boost heading into their first national masterpiece with Ten Hag at the helm.
Referring to his games at centre-back this season, Shaw said: “Everyone was playing in the dressing room saying I was a centre-back. I thought I would just play one game and that would be it, but when the next game came around we started preparing and he ( Ten Hag) name the team, he chose me again as center back!
