- The full-back is expected to join Manchester United, who have beaten the competition
- Harry Amass is one of the highest rated teens in the country right now.
- Chelsea also said they were interested in taking over the services of the young Watford
It has been reported that Harry Amass will join Manchester United after beating out competition from Chelsea for the signing of the Watford star.
The 16-year-old has become one of the most sought after British teenagers in recent years after first appearing with an England youth team in 2021.
Despite only making appearances for Watford’s youth teams so far in his career, Amass has been touted as having a great future in the game.
Now, according to the Evening Standard, he is set to join United having been lured by their offer before other English giants.
It has been reported that despite interest from Chelsea, United will be his next club.
The player is said to see moving to a bigger club, and therefore making use of bigger and better facilities, as a key step in his development.
The defender, who has played at left-back and centre-back, was named among the substitutes for Watford’s FA Cup clash with Reading in January.
Under Charlie Daniels, Amass has established himself as one of the most important young players at Watford, having largely been a mainstay in their under-18 team.
His impending signing follows that of Gabriele Biancheri, another highly-skilled 16-year-old who was announced last month to join United as a trainee this year before signing professional terms in September.
He joined the Cardiff City club after completing his medical last month.
The transfer authorization from FIFA and the paperwork that needed to be signed to complete the move had delayed the transfer somewhat.
Despite never making a senior team appearance, Biancheri was pursued by several Premier League clubs, though he opted to join United instead.
Born in 2006, Biancheri is a striker who likes to play in the center the most. He is eligible to play for Wales, England or Italy.
Having played for Cardiff’s under-18s in the FA Youth Cup this term and trained with their under-21s, Biancheri is one of the promising young players to emerge in the UK in the last year or so.
His development is expected to be further harnessed by the Premier League giants, who possess a consistent track record of turning academy prospects into first-team stars.
It is United’s most recent involvement with the Cardiff academy, with David Hughes, the former head of the Championship club’s academy, joining the Premier League giants as their Career Development Phase coach last summer.
